Some quick overview notes on the book timeline [wip]:

- As a child, Loki extinguishes all the lights in the palace simultaneously with infant magic
-- Odin becomes enraged and sends him into isolation
-- Frigga explains to Loki that he should dedicate himself to being a warrior like Thor rather than a witch
-- Loki makes an attempt

- Karnilla, Queen of the Norns, and her apprentice Amora arrive at Odin's court
-- Karnilla & Amora are the first magic-uses Loki meets beyond his mother
-- Thor promises not to knock Loki flat in sparring session, but does so anyway to impress Sif
-- Loki turns Thor's drink into slugs in his brother's mouth, then back to wine when Thor spits it out, for revenge and/or to impress Amora
-- Loki & Amora later strike up a friendship in the palace library

- Months later, Loki attends Royal Feast of Gullveig
-- The banquet is held to celebrate the day of the warrior king who, one hundred centuries ago, harnessed the rime flows of Niflheim in the Siege of Muspelheim and from it forged the Godseye Mirror
-- Karnilla and Amora attend
-- Odin views the future in the Godseye Mirror and is horrified by the visions, leaving the feast
